Types of wood flooring: Solid & Engineered Part 2
This type of floor is designed to “float” over a sound barrier pad which makes it ideal for buildings with multi unit residences where sound control is required. The construction of this type of board as well as the thickness is almost identical to the engineered flooring we just discussed. This product was mainly designed with the ease of installation in mind. However, the preparation of the subfloor is identical to that of a glued or nailed floor so a skilled mechanic is still preferred to ensure a professional installation.
Again, not all these floors are created equal and the quality and cost of this material can be based on the same list of characteristics as the previously mentioned Engineered floors.
